I’m playing too fast

Just got the DVD back for panto, and it’s great, but I’ve noticed something a bit disconcerting. I haven’t had the chance to listen to myself play for quite some time, and there seems to be a real difference between the tempo going on in my head, and what’s actually happening on stage.

It’s really quite worrying; everything is simply too fast. I wonder if it’s just the excitement of the moment, but those songs really zipped along. I know a couple of them I was asked to make really energetic, but perhaps I overcooked it a bit?

So I’m off to go and have a look some digital metronomes, and see what’s available. Something that can be silent with a little flashing light might be a good idea. In the meantime, it’s back to watching the DVD, which I’m really enjoying!
